Made from 3/8 thick steel they are stronger than competitors. During a reenactment at fort Adams, which the parade ground is asphalt covered with 3 inches of top soil, the reenactors who used my stakes managed to pound them in through the tarmac while the others who used imported pieces made stakes simply bent. Using my heavy duty stake pullers my friends had no issue removing them after the event was over. We purposely choose square stakes because round tent stakes tend to twist in soil and come loose. This is why if you notice round tent stakes are more staple shaped, because pounding them all the way into the soil is the only way they remain secure. Square stakes grip the soil better.
